They are 20lts, might be worth asking Crusader but might guess a 30ltr in the same format be slightly top heavy?

Just cut the safety off with my grinder and gave the kegs a good clean out. Tomorrow I am going to sterilise and fill.

Cheers, any pictures of the cut off safety spear please.

I'll get a pic up for you tomorrow Clive, I left the spears in my shed.
The way the safety is shaped once cut it just falls off completely as if it were never there, you'll see in the pic. Makes for a neat job.

One question on Star San, what is the ratio for no rinse?

Just one other thing about keg couplers, I see the US one`s come with a built in gas release valve. Cant seem to get them over here though :(

Cheers Clive. I've got an ro filter for my marines so I'm going to use the water from that.

Yea I've seen them on ebay and the odd video on YouTube. Real pitty they aint over this side of the pond. They would be ideal for the homebrew market

Alex, what model fridge is that? It looks like its got loads of space inside, without much lost to the compressor!

The spears were pretty easy to remove using the 5p trick. Although I did cut my thumb on the threads on the first keg #-o
I will however remove the safety to make future removal easier.

Thanks for all the tips Clive on spear removal, really helped

Here are some pics. They fit in my fridge very well, plenty of room for the coupler.

Can you fit 2 side by side in your fridge?

I would have thought that as long as you have a 600mm wide (external) fridge it wouldnt be too much of a problem to fit at least a couple in, going to depend on how much plastic stuff is in there for shelves etc

Yes, one slightly behind the other. I'll get some more pics up when I'm all set up.

At least with that type of safety spear there is nothing left behind + makes a nice neat finish to the spear :)

Looking forward to my little arriveals now

Yea that's what I thought. I haven't filled them yet, nursing a hangover and playing with beer don't go too well! :|

You getting yours tomorrow Clive?

They look good. I think I'm going with a mixture of SS kegs and the Ecofass type. Looks like taking off the safety is fairly straightforward.

Sometime next week I hope, nothing to put in them yet though :( albeit I want to experiment very soon with the stout kits and the conical so in a couple of week could well have something to keg.

I`m more curious at the moment if I can fit the gas bottle, 6 x 20ltr and 2 x 50 ltrs in the kegerator [-o<, the annoying thing is the other stainless freezer I picked up the other day is bigger on the inside than the kegerrator I just finished building #-o
Edit Just tried with the 2 cornies 230mm diameter I have and think the most I will get in there is gas + 2x50+ 4x20ltrs in either fridge/ freezer :(

What size kegerator you got? Lifting 50lt kegs into a chest freezer is going to be fun. :D
