Love it!!
I see Gervin have upgraded their GV12 yeast that I use, even better now, sprinkle on top and leave, no need to stir and no starter to make!
First one used on Sunday and it was bubbling away in hours! (Pitched at 24˚C)
Wilko's sells Gervin yeast.Troutman47 wrote:As I understand it Gervin is a neutral yeast allowing the malt and hop flavours through which is what I want to taste.
It's 75% attenuating and as I bottle all my beer I use it as it stays firmly on the bottom of the bottle allowing me to empty all the beer into my glass!
Gervin have improved the yeast some how so now it's even easier to use. No more making a starter, just sprinkle on top and no stirring! Started fermenting after a few hours!
The Brupak yeast was awful! i went in the LHBS to get some S-04, knowing they didn't sell Gervin but they'd sold out of S-04, the brupak was all they had, bloody awful put like a creamy, milky taste to it, bloody awful!!
I think my attempt at Jail is a bit more bitter and hoppy than the real thing but I love it and made 4 in a row!
GERVIN YEAST RULES! OK!!
Really fancy this one, have you updated your recipe?Troutman47 wrote:Just following manufacturers instructions Belter!
Anyway Belter, I bought a bottle of Jail to do a taste test...
Mine is on the left, the original on the right.
Mine is slightly darker and less hoppy!
I did enjoy the extra hops, I'll add some more Goldings towards the end.
I've drank most of my Jail Ale out at the Red Lion, Exbourne which is served straight from the keg, it tastes nothing like the bottled version!
But still, at the end of the day, i've brewed a pint that suits my palette and enjoy drinking probably a little too much!!!
Cheers for now!
