The Stash!

Post by Hoppkins » Mon Jun 04, 2007 9:29 am

Finally cleared out my shed and made it all nice.

Has 3 reflective shades on the roof to cool it a little and one in the window. Hopefully in the blazing sun this will make it a little more habitable.

My stash for summer is finished aside from 5 litres of mead which is almost done.

The plastic crates contain approx:

20 litres of geordie lager 'pale ale'
20 litres of assorted turbo ciders (Blueberry, apple and pomegranite and just apple)
14 litres of Belgian Dark ale
and finally 1 keg of Coopers Special Reserve IPA and 1 keg of Coopers Australian Bitter
oh....and 4 bottles of mini mash left :)

looks good, just ou tof interest how have you used that big water bottle on the top in the first picture. Ive got loads of these knocking around but couldnt see a way of resealing the top up once theyd ben used.

When you pull off the seal part on the top it leaves you with the blue cap which actually fits back on and off.

I cut a hole for a rubber bung and used sealant on the edges to make it airtight.

Works a treat.

I thought when i was pulling it off i would be left with nothing but infact it leaves a cap which with a little DIY can work fine.

The proof is in the pudding, my geordie lager pale ale experiment tastes top dog.

Where do you get these bottles from? They'd be dead useful up at my allotment.

you get them from water coolers , although the company that supplies them usualy takes them back to refill.

cool! did you use the bung under the blue cap? and if so did you then reseal with sealant once youd put the beer in through the same hole ?

I think you would rack the beer into the water bottle the replace the blue cap and the insert the bung and airlock.I have 6 of these kicking about as I "borrowed" some with the help of the water cooler guy that delivers to work(bribery with homebrew works...2x bottles of HB and i get 19l or so of water ready to use for a brew and a container to store the water from the wort chiller).
Perhaps it is time to use for secondary....i read somewhere that o2 will get in eventually but how long are we talking, weeks months?
