Armchair Brewery's The Dominator:

Image

A deep mahogany and very lively out of the bottle with a subtle aroma. The west coast yeast really let's the malts shine and BOY-O-BOY do they ever!! A rich yet smooth caramel flavour gives way to a real tingle on the side of the tongue.

Where do I buy it and how soon can you deliver!!!

Was the stout the Darkness Falls imperial stout at 7.2% or did I give you an Imperial Goddess at 11%?

Another big ol' beer from bigdave. His International Double IPA is crazy good. I had a Firestone Walker Double Jack IPA the same night for calibration (perfect 100 on Ratebeer, last year's 3rd place winner at Great American Beer Festival, etc.), and I actually liked bigdave's hop profile a little better. I think the FW had a slightly more interesting fermentation profile, fruity ale yeast esters, I think a true English strain, maybe open tops and warmer temps…I'm not sure. But whatever the case, bigdave's recipe is a winner too. Smooth and well-rounded, extremely well-hidden elevated alcohol. And look at that beautiful reddish colour! Keep up the good work, bigdave.

High praise indeed! Is there a brewday or recipe post Dave?

Also, how did you send the beer over the pond? RM or courier?

So glad people like my ales. I'm giving big beers a rest for a few months and focusing on session ales but will get this one on again next summer.

Edit: it'd help if I named the beer!
Against The Odds - Armchair Brewery

May have opened this a bit soon after getting in; I'm soaked lol!

Lovely deep brown colour, nicely carbed with a good fluffy head. Cracking toasty aroma with a hint of toffee. Dry, toasty malts on the nose deepen to give a lovely, slightly nutty flavour with hints of coffee, biscuit and a burnt finish. Long roast aftertaste with subtle red fruit hints. Super pint, and one for which I'll definitely be looking the recipe up!

Also, the 5 year old assistant brewer had a taste, and said "not nice, FANTASTIC!"

Cheers Nick,
I'm guessing the 30-40 miles the bottle has done on the car made it a little carbonated :
This is my first brown ale that I've done, so im happy with the results!

Drumhead Brewery - Old Peculiar 5.4%

Pours a dark brown colour, with a red hue, nice fluffy bread head with loosely packed bubbles. Carbonation was just right & had a medium body with some lacing on the glass. From the malts I get a nice sweet toffee & caramel with a supple chocolate note. The flavour was a cracking earthy and slight hazelnut taste which mellows out to a fruity after taste which you comes out the more and more you drink.

I think I will be giving this brew a go :D
