The Ozzies (http://aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/81-diy-projects/) who have been building bm clones have primarily moved over to the camlock fittings for the seals as developed by arnieW over at arniew.wordpress.com

Its the method i will be using once i hit payday.

Are all the parts for this available in the uk? Malt tube etc?

They have been using a 20l stainless pot as their malt tube, screens are ikea splash guards, and top plate is a perforated pizza tray.

Thanks for the help

Depends which bar - if its the vertical column stainless steel threaded bar with stainless nuts and washers, if the bar you are talking about this varies, drilled stainless pipe, drilled stainless stock, some have found some alu. gutter clips that seem to hold pizza tray to the pots well.

do yourself a favour and read the build threads, they are pretty complete.

If you're looking to build something using a catering urn like Barneey's then one (expensive!) option is to buy a genuine BM malt tube for the 20L system from somewhere like brewuk or Vigo but you're looking at around £95 + VAT & del. Otherwise, you could approach a fabricator with a plan and get a quote to have one made up, although you're probably looking at a similar cost.
Just for reference the only 20ltr malt tubes I've found for sale at brewuk or vigo are the ones they sell for the "downgrade" use on the 50 ltr pot. IE if you have the 50ltrBM and want to convert it for use as a 20ltr unit.

Would this 20l malt tube be good for 25l brews? Does it also come with the central rod?

That's true Clive, if you're just shopping on the website, but if you call them up you can order spares for any system you like, at least certainly with Vigo who were great to deal with. It's what I've ended up doing  as I had trouble finding a fabricator local to me (Southampton). I know it seems a bit drastic in terms of cost, but I still reckon the total cost for the build will come in around 40% of what an original BM would set me back.

If it the malt tube only, there will be nothing else, the central rod is part of the actual pot.

But if as Bonzo example you are able to buy all the spare parts including the Mesh screens (top & bottom), if you download the manual http://www.speidels-braumeister.de/down ... ister.html they show an exploded view of all the parts.

As for the brewlength approx. 23lt will be max (ish)

Vigo BM spares prices (from April 2014). I only ordered the tube as I'm going to make up my own centre rod/filter plates/mesh/seal to save a bit of cash. If you bought all of the stuff below you'd be looking at around £275!
All prices are ex-works Vigo Ltd. The cost of forwarding these spares would be via FedEx at £8.50 + VAT.

the malt tube for the 20L system - £93.00 + VAT
2 x filter plates - £52.00 + VAT each (2 required)
2 x mesh filters (to accompany the filter plates) - £12.00 + VAT each (2 required)
the red rubber seal that goes around the base of the malt tube - £12.00 + VAT

What size catering urn or stock pot will you be using?

Couple of pics of progress so far, hopefully showing how I'm clamping the malt tube. I'm re using my current kettle, and have bought a new stainless stock pot to use as the malt tube. Obviously there's a lot more to do.... There will be a stand too, but it isn't built yet. I'm planning on mounting the Brauduino controller on the wall, not underneath the kettle.
I hope the pictures make sense. One shows the malt tube - perforated bottom, but mesh not attached yet. The other shows the malt tube clamped within the kettle, again, mesh not added yet. The malt tube will have a 10mm thick silicon gasket around the mesh, on the outside, bottom, of the pot. Hopefully the clamp will push the tube down enough to seal it sufficiently.

An original BM rod is 12mm diameter + length slightly less the height of the pot.
