Re: The Bread Maker
Zebra, Nice looking build so far, I`ll be interested to see how you get on with the diameter of the pots chosen as it will play an important part in how the system performs.
Brewer, when I got mine made up the cost was half that of the spares that can be purchased from Vigo.

I'm using a 38.5 litre thermo pot because I already had one. You can get them from Angel Homebrew amongst other placesWhat size catering urn or stock pot will you be using?
http://www.angelhomebrew.co.uk/en/stock ... s-pot.html
Barneey's catering urn is still a good option though, especially as the 3kW element is already built in. Not a bad price either at £90.

Re: The Bread Maker
The Tea Urn was chosen as it was a 40ltr capacity + near enough the same dims as an original 20ltr BM (which is also a 40ltr pot), I wanted to keep it as close as possible to the real tried and tested article.

Re: The Bread Maker
Hi
Would a 20l stock pot be able to replace the malt tube barnee had made?
Would someone please tell me how tall the inner 30l urn is?
I am planning on using cam lock fitting instead of cutting the stock pot base therefore this technique will probably raise the pot too high for the 30l urn
I have been looking at this urn on ebay it is 40l but only has a 2.5kw element, do you guys thing it will still do the job?

Re: The Bread Maker
Brewer,
Can't tell you if this will work, because I haven't finished it yet but I'm using a kettle of 470mm diameter by 430mm high and a stockpot for the malt tube 370mm diameter by 366mm high. I think the stockpot is 38 litres capacity and the kettle is about 75 litres. The element I'll be using is 3KW.

Re: The Bread Maker
I would double check the dims inside the boiler.
The only other possible problem / area to think about is whatever malt tube you use, it must sit flat on the bottom of the boiler so the space between the outside and the element "ridge" looks OK.
I cannot see a thermostat knob on the thing?

Can you tell me what were the dimensions of your malt tube?

Re: The Bread Maker
Thanks again barneey, these measurements will assist greatly and will ensure I don't purchase a stock pot that is too big..

Re: The Bread Maker
Yep. I've finished building mine. It appears to work (I haven't brewed with it yet - still building the stand & pot etc) despite me having almost zero knowledge of electronics! I'm planning on posting a build thread when I've finished with photos and further info if anyone else is interested.
The full kit cost approx £75 (of which about £17 was delivery from Oz). You'll need to buy an appropriate enclosure - I bought this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131197224661? ... 1439.l2649. Lael said he might not be putting kits together for much longer so best get in touch sooner rather than later.
