12v mag pump powered from car battery

i'm in the process of re-designing my set-up and have bought a couple of 12v mag pumps. i was just intending powering these from a spare car battery, and installing a switch. i can keep the battery in good overall condition with a charging/conditioning unit and i expect it will be ample size to run the pump for long enough for 1 brewday.

anyone else tried this, any obvious disadvantages i'mm missing

Why just not run it of the battery charger. Have done this for years no problem. Hope this is of use.

No power where u brew? with a good charge u should have no probs and plenty of juice, not quite the same animals but i ran my 12v solar pump of the 9v battery out of the smoke alarm after watching the unsuitable underpowered spare brick i had earmarked by mistake emit its magic smoke.
got about 4-5 mins out of the battery which was just enough for the job
i now use an ebay 2a tatoo gun psu, but with a mag pump i doubt your interested in voltage control.
