True mark of a brewer?

Post by seymour » Fri Oct 24, 2014 2:55 pm

...or true mark of a clumsy oaf?!

Question: how many hydrometers have you broken?

Yesterday I dropped another one, which smashed into a million shards of glass all over the room. Pretty sure that's #3 for me. Dang it!

C'mon, someone PLEASE be clumsier than me! :)

True mark of a brewer? Probably. Not done it yet. Have the jump on dropping non waterproof digitals (ph meters and thermometers) into mash tuns and sterilising buckets though.

Ah yes, high-tech clumsiness. Even truer mark. :)

Professoinal saccharometers are even worse. I'm shudder to think how many of them I've taken out at £50 a pop.

Yikes! Maybe they need to keep us all in padded rooms :)

A fair few before I got my refractometer, luckily the latter is pretty hardy.

Only broke one hydrometer. I use a refractometer now on brew day, much more robust.

Killed mine the other day whilst re-ordering the brew cupboard - along with my ornate glass trial jar :(

Need to find time to get to the brew shop to get another.

Not broke one, but one ended up rattling as the stuff at the bottom was loose... Got rid of it anyway
