Re: STC1000 Hacking
Read somewhere the different version was more a different mcu rather the presence or absence of pins to flash, can you see what is written on the chip?

Re: STC1000 Hacking
Isn't that what the "A400_P" signifies? Lots of the 1.1 boards have something else there (all of the 1.0 boards are A400_P) and the other type doesn't work.weetabixface wrote:Read somewhere the different version was more a different mcu rather the presence or absence of pins to flash, can you see what is written on the chip?

the hacked code is for the 16f1828 MCUGrumpydev wrote:Isn't that what the "A400_P" signifies? other v1.1 in circulation use N79A8211 MCU so the code doesn't flash as the instuction set is likely different
you appear to have a v1.1 that is flashable, hence the question

Re: STC1000 Hacking
I received one today from the place in one of Andy's posts (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STC-1000-Digi ... 1396569456) and it's an A400_P v1.0 model.
I need more than one, so I've ordered them from different places to see what I get.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
I wonder if the v1.0 or v1.1 bit might be misleading? It could refer to the version of the PCB. So the A400_P v1.1 board might just be a later version of the A400_P v1.0 board with some layout changes but using the same components and still be upgradeable. I've not seen a photo of the non-flashable board with "v1.1" screen-printed on it, but if it's there perhaps that might just mean it's the second production version of the PCB for that version of the controller?weetabixface wrote:the hacked code is for the 16f1828 MCU

Given a magnifying glass I think it should be possible to read the numbers printed on the top of the MCU package, which would hopefully indicate whether there's a chance of flashing it.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
I received 2 more from the same seller today - outer packaging is identical, I'll rip them open later and see what they are and if they're hackable or not.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
The two delivered today both appear hackable too - one of the has one pad that's partly missing, but that seems to be a manufacturing flaw more than anything, and there looks like there's enough to make contact with, will just be a bit tricky with my Blue Peter approach to the hacking
These are the ones I bought, although they only appear to have one more in stock:

All 3 successful hacked

Re: STC1000 Hacking
Comparing this image with another of a v1.0 board from earlier in the thread, the design is not the same for both. There are a few clear differences between the two boards though they're very similar.Blackaddler wrote:This one...?
The non-flashable one is quite different.
I think therefore that there's a strong possibility that the v1.0 and v1.1 refer to the design for the board layout and do not have a direct correlation to which MCU is installed.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
Do they appear to be genuine Elitech ones? The web page claims so, but the image doesn't have the Elitech logo on. I've been avoiding genuine Elitech ones as I've read a number of posts suggesting that the Elitech models are now all non-flashable.Grumpydev wrote:All 3 successful hacked

Re: STC1000 Hacking
They don't have elitech written on them, think they are made by Lerway?
Re: STC1000 Hacking
Bit naughty of them then, but as long as it works, who cares?Grumpydev wrote:They don't have elitech written on them, think they are made by Lerway?

Re: STC1000 Hacking
I thought they were made by several companies, elitech being one.. Everything is branded Lerway, so its not trying to be anything else

Re: STC1000 Hacking
If you look at the web page though, it says "Lerway® All-Purpose Digital Temperature Controller with Sensor 2 Relay Output Thermostat STC-1000 220V by Elitech" and "Brand: Elitech" (my bold), so I wasn't sure I understood exactly what they were selling.Grumpydev wrote:I thought they were made by several companies, elitech being one.. But if it all works out in the end, that's the important bit
