Corny keg pimping

Post by bryanferry » Sun May 24, 2015 10:01 pm

As its the bank holiday i've had too much free time. Took to trying out a bit of tarting up of a corny i got via the recent homebrewcompany deal. The second keg i had delivered was pretty bashed so i've lightly sanded down and sprayed with some plasti-kote. Dont ask why i went with purple but when standing in front of a wall with numerous colour's thats what I grabbed. The second keg is full of wheat beer so will be done when empty.

Pre paint job in a cardboard barrier to stop the wind taking the spray everywhere.

side by side comparison with its in use friend. Might find a chrome paint for the second keg.

I not know if it's my eyes, or my iPad, and I have colour app thing on my phone, but it's blue/dark blue.

I wonder how long it will last before it gets bashed abit more and flakes off

But anyhow, I like the look, it looks very cool.

Looks good Bryan - how do your prime your keg, and how do you chill your beer?

It's bad photos but certainly purple. Have done a few coats will see how it handles with use. Always plenty in the can for touch ups.

Still work in progress with priming as these are my first cornys. So far the garage has been cold enough. I used 20g of priming sugar and had to let a bit of pressure out before dispensing beer and not just pints of foam. I've got a batch of blonde ready to go into the purple fella so will add 15g sugar and take it from there.

So far its been really easy to use, bought this one from the Home Brew Builder. My only tip would be not to connect it with the tap set to open.... made for a quickly wet floor.

This is an upgrade from using mini kegs and a party star tap. Have found the corny tap opening far wider than the party star but its been pouring well with only a small drip after closing. For that I'm trying to track down a way of securing a drip tray to the side of a corny.
