Very bad brew day

Post by oblivious » Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:19 pm

I was doing my Belgian strong dark ale last night and was just adding the second sparge water, when the container broke spilling 12-14 liters of boiling water over my foot. Spent an evening in A&E getting seen to now on crutches and lots over very strong pain killers (no drinking). An to top it all of I am off to tomorrow OZ for three weeks no snorkeling at the barrier reef for me

Blimey! Bad luck there. Hope the burns get better soon.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the container that broke made of?

Sorry to hear that O, hope the holiday's not too badly affected. I must admit that lifting my coolbox with 5 odd kg's of grain & 15 litres of hot water has caused me concern too, so much so that I lifted it by holding on to the sides rather than the handle during yesterday's brew

Get well soon

Very nasty, hope you get better soon.

One of the conditions in going upto 10gal+ brew length was a fixed container system with pumped liquids.

Enjoy your hols!

Bad luck Obl' look out for Bundaberg Root beer whilst your in Oz' it's excellent and might make a reasonable alcohol substitute for a while.

Sounds awful. I had a terrible brew day too, had to dump 10 gallons of wort.

Really sorry to hear that mate, hope the painkillers are doing their job,

I've often wondered about the strength of those handles, I've started holding it underneath as well,

hope you get well quick
