However, I also enjoy a more traditional bitter.

Had a very successful Landlord clone and made a very good kit from the Fulstow Brewery.

So I thinking of trying a few recipes on a simple pale/crystal base, perhaps a bit of wheat and then some English hops, EKG, Brambling Cross, Fuggles and the like.

Any suggestions or opinions on this?

Thought I'd better get this thread back on topic :)

My next AG is going to be an ordinary bitter -

25L @ 1.036 OG

93.0% Maris Otter Malt 5.0 EBC
5.0% Crystal Malt 150 EBC
2.0% Amber Malt 100 EBC

Challenger @60mins
First Gold (1g/L) @10mins
UK Cascade (0.5g/L) @0mins

30 EBU

Ferment with WLP002

I haven't brewed an ordinary bitter since AG#4, which was a bit crap to be honest, so hopefully the above will prove to be quaffable.

I made a bitter recently that came out at 4.5% but it's more of a red ale. Still nice tho.

83% Pale Malt.
8% Crystal 80
8% Torrified Wheat
1% Chocolate

Boil Hops: Challenger
Late Hops: East Kent & Styrian Goldings
Aroma Steep: East Kent & Styrian Goldings.

36 IBU & 25 EBC

WLP022 was the yeast.
