Anyone that has made their own hop filter out of #30 (roughly 300 micron) steel mesh (or something similar) - what did you use to cut it?
My hop filter I bought premade had an unfortunate accident at the weekend, and now has melted plastic embedded in the mesh, and there is no way I am leaving that in my boil, so I'm going to buy some new mesh to replace it.
Can it be cut with regular scissors, or do you use metal cutters? Alternatively does someone want to cut me two pieces to the right size/shape for the right price?
Cheers!

I keep a pair of tough cuts. In the Kitchen. Great for spatchcocking a chicken.!They are cheap and incredibly strong and will cut through the mesh with ease.
They will 'apparently' cut a 2p in half.

Inoxia

I've gone with the #30 mesh as that's what's in my filter currently. It deals with leaf hops really well but clogs easily with pellets. It seems that #20 mesh doesn't clog with pellets, perhaps because it lets quite a lot of bits through...

Oooh. Good idea. I'll buy a pair of those and give them a go as I'll get other uses out of them anyway.Gordito wrote:I keep a pair of tough cuts. In the Kitchen. Great for spatchcocking a chicken.!They are cheap and incredibly strong and will cut through the mesh with ease.
