Post by cerbera84 » Fri Feb 05, 2016 3:39 pm

Hi guys,

I have recently made a few upgrades to the brewery, so sharing time ;-)

New hop filter from two IKEA splatter guards and a copper pick up tube:

Nice one! =D>

That XMT7100 looks quality. Any downside compared to Sesto / Aubers etc? They look good value at £15 given that the Rex knock-offs on ebay have some issues and aren't that much cheaper......? I went for a Sesto but now I've seen those wonder why!!! :D

Looking good there,

a tip for the hop filter.. if you can take 1 x mesh from within its steel clamped on edge, and split a length of beer/gas line the length of the filter diameter on the onside of its curl,
hou can pinc the un edged mesh to the edged mesh with the beerline for an easy to seperate and clean solution - if you want too...

The un edged mesh is a similar diameter as the edged mesh so the beerline pinches the 2 together snugly and is a lot easier to pull for cleaning..

ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

cheers Fil, I saw your build thread/comment somewhere before, but I had already used the stainless wire to permanently connect them! hopefully it'll keep a lot of it out

ive never used a sesto/ Auber so can't comment on those - compared to my stc 1000 the xmt7100 has a three wire thermometer and the stc has a two wire, obv not sure what the sesto/auber have. now I have to replace the temp sensor on the xmt-7100 and am struggling to find something suitable considering my current setup

http://www.angelhomebrew.co.uk/en/therm ... -80mm.html - ignore me, this is suitable!

But is it class A or class B spec? For the money I'd go B..

ha just learnt something new, didn't even know there was a class system for pt100s!

I actually ordered this one http://eu.banggood.com/Wholesale-Wareho ... 23736.html which, on the balance of cost v quality, probably is class z....

Some of those sensors are well out of spec. I was lucky- mine was only a couple of degree out. Did go rusty eventually so I swapped it for a proper stainless one (class A) from https://www.sensorshop24.de

Very nice they are too.
