BM Sub £300.00?

I wasn't planning on building anything else as I am more than happy with my BreadMaker.

Anyway a 100L pot was going cheap (Mashman) @ £25.00 so I couldn't resist, the result is another build is underway, this is to use up some of the spare bits of kit I have left over.

It would be very easy to make another BreadMaker, but this time I thought I would have a go at a GF using a button louvre and 50l Malt Tube, hence the name.

Progress so far.

100l pot, button louvre, MrL Pump & Element, 50l Malt Tube, Martin sprayer, Arduino Controller & loads of spare bits.

No idea if anyone is remotely interested but the original idea didn't work so the revised plan a 50+ BM on a very small budget.

Now to the test with pumping from the outside of the pot to the inside would the outside be eventually sucked dry? If it does it will mean the upflow BM style mash will work with an actual brew.

so £283.00 in parts without a control panel, so if I can find the last STC1000 I had (or maybe I sold it )

It would be a sub £300.00 50BM Machine but with the advantage of a larger pot, a better filter & tap.

I will more than likely test brew with it, then strip it down for parts to sell on, I don't really have the need for 2 BM builds . Its been a good exercise in what can be achieved on a budget though.

Like the video, good demonstration of why you should never put the malt pipe in before the BM unit has turned the pumps off !

I was gifted one by Mark (MrL) from the brewbuilder sometime ago, trouble was I had the other build on the go, which went into hibernation due to waiting a 1.5years for the control panel to arrive, so it has just been sitting in my spares box ready to be tested.

Well I just need to brew with it to make sure it works and then the bits are up for sale. I will more than likely just brew manually with it as a test & let whoever buys the parts fit a control panel of their choice. Albeit I do have a spare ardinuo (Leal) pcb & board & I do also have a spare 20l BM Malt Tube.

Very much a mixed bag to start with.

The new pot does work however the 2x 24v pumps are a little too powerful for the system, this caused the top screen to bow & there fore released some grain into the pot.

I improved the situation by running the pumps on a lower voltage, the top screen however needs to be thicker.

I went all out max with 12.5kg of grain which again proved part of the problem so had to scoop some out.

With a few tweaks the system would work, I am sure, but I dont know if I have the time at the moment to make them, so might strip the whole lot down for parts to sell off.
