Inkbird PID and PT-100 Sensor issue / orAL error

Post by hambrook » Wed Jul 27, 2016 6:18 pm

I have a 3 x Inbkbird ITC-100VH PIDs and I am trying to connect a PT-100 sensor bought from Brew Builder. The Sensor has two red wires and one blue wire. I have connected as follows;

But I still get the OrAl error messages. I 2 PT-100 sensors and 3 PIDs and get the same error.....

Have you set the pids up for pt100 sensors? It may have default setting as a different type of sensor.

My sestos ones showed readings of 680 c when I first connected the pt100s. Had to google to find out how to change sensor type.

Yes SN=21 is the setting for PT-100s - all set up. It dropped from 1300 degrees (default) to 635.7

Wiring looks fine, got a nice tight connection to the terminals?
Maybe just bad sensors, drop mrlard an email see what he says.
I bought one from him and one from China for less than half the price, and they're exactly the same

Do you have a link for the Chinese one? All the ones that I have seen look like they have a poor sensor head and screw fitting, the one I got from Mr lard gives a nice watertight seal.

Cheers

I had the dreaded ORal on one of my old PIDs, and it turned out to be the PID itself (after replacing the sensor). Having said that, if you have tried 2 sensors over 3 PIDs for the same result then it sounds like something else must be going on (or you are extremely unlucky).

I have a spare RTD sensor 1.5" (I think) in 1/2 BSP (or is it NPT?) and am just down the road in Birdham if you want to give it a try and rule out your PID as the problem (I know this one works).

Can't find the 1/4" one I got but one of these will do the job, same just 1/2" thread.

Hambrook,
No idea if they can be reset to factory settings, without doing it manually by going through settings

It's there if you need it. Just had a look, looks like a 1" probe - not that it matters if you just need to test with it.

Nice setup.
Wish I had the space for something like that, think I'd end up being single if I tried putting that in the kitchen

A bit more expensive than an eBay special but Southern Temp Sensors in Alton sell top quality German PT100s.
I use this on my Sestos PID and have done so for a few years now.
You can collect if you call first.

So overnight I realised that I was using a PT-100 sensor in my Plate Chiller out port which was working fine with my Novus N320 Temp Monitor. So connected that to the PID and voila - worked straight away. Took one of the 2 x PT-100 sensors I had been using connected it to the Novus

Middle PID showing working sensor.

Tried to get hold of Brew Builder this morning to urgently get to more PT-100's out but can't get hold of them. Have got in touch with Southern Temp Sensors and 2 x PT-100s out the door for delivery tomorrow including 1/2" BSP to compression for £50 delivered. So about £20 more than the faulty originals but these are the last 2 components stopping a brewery going live.....
