Cheers

I use them for my RIS brews, they do take standard caps. Pay heed to ayepee though, don't get the twistcap bottles

If they are the normal style bottles i.e. With a crown cap then yes they do take astandard crown cap. I normally have a few budweiser bottles handy when bottling in case there is just a little bit of beer left (i use 500ml bottles) dont want waste any!!

On a side note has anyone tried opening the 'new' twist cap budweiser bottles with a bare hand? Nearly took half my skin off trying that!! The rest i had to open with a tea towel over the cap. Nothing like what you see on tv when generally in america someone opens a twist bottle with no effort at all!!

I'd say the bottles are a little thin to use for beer.

Thanks all. They are definitely not twist caps. I was going to use them for ginger beer, as bus is pressurised anyway so assume that they would be ok.

There must be a moral to this story :D

Snigger! My father in law has given me over 60 empty bud bottles for my ginger beer and elderflower champagne, yet he finds home brew undrinkable!!

:D :D :D :D

You're right, the contents are pressurised, but because they force carbonate the beer, they know exactly what pressure the contents is at. With natural carbonation, it's difficult to tell.

Bud and some of the other macro breweries (e.g. Stella) use thinner glass to save on shipping weight and material costs in some of their bottles.

They know exactly how much pressure to put in a bottle (and can control it), but you don't. I wouldn't use them personally.

The only bottle I've ever had that splintered on me during crown capping was a Bud bottle.
Best place for them is the recycling bin.
Way too thin these days.

I've had similar issues with Anchor bottles.

As stated, thin glass and even thinner contents are the issue

Much better off buying an 18 bottle pack of Magners cider in brown 330cl bottles - decent glass and drinkable content.

Interesting on the `NO Vote`!
I had some screw top bottles off my neighbour a few weeks ago, put a TC in them as an experiment. (Only used 4 just in case)! [-X
Opened one yesterday, good hiss on opening, lovely fizzy TC, no probs opening bottle.
Will try some more when bottling Pilsner on Sunday! :D
Bottles were capped using a Bench Capper.
Better catch my neighbour right now, recycling day tomorrow! :D
