Grainfather counter flow chiller options
Grainfather counter flow chiller options
Anyone used the GF counter flow chiller as a standalone device on another system? I assume they are pretty interchangeable? £140 seems a lot of money but it does look a nice piece of kit and I'm struggling to find a decent alternative non-immersion chiller in the UK.

I'd thought of this myself but the hose connections look a bit non standard, can any owners post some pictures for us?

There really go chillers tbh. I fitted cam locks to mind when I had a grainfather so there's no reason to not use it in another system !
I've seen other cfcs for sale in America probably for a comparable price

Why not save a hundred or so and just make one? I did they are not difficult to build and at least as good as their GF chiller, the cash difference would buy a lot of grain.

The connectors are designed for the grainfather but they can easily be removed. So you are then left with a flexable hose that you can then use your connectors of choice.

OK, I'll have a scan around the forum for a parts list for a DIY version. TBH can't figure how a plastic hose with a copper inner and a couple of fittings = £140!
