I've always had good results with either Nottingham or Gervin English ale yeast. The Gervin is sold at Willis for about £1.50

I always use safe ale so4 ferments well and clears down nicely
Fermenting: Wilkos Cider
Drinking: Wilkos Hoppy Copper (very nice)

Do you use this for everything? I.e. Instead of the provided kit yeast?davew wrote:I always use safe ale so4 ferments well and clears down nicely

Yes I do tend to use instead of the kit yeast but I normally do double batches and like to be safe.SquireKnott wrote:Do you use this for everything? I.e. Instead of the provided kit yeast?davew wrote:I always use safe ale so4 ferments well and clears down nicely

Re: Woodfordes Wherry Yeast
just bought a werry kit and you now get 2 packs of 6g yeast with the kit mine started @1040 and is down to 1011 after 6 days
Re: Woodfordes Wherry Yeast
Yes they finally responded to what the homebrewing community had been telling them for years and added a 2nd packet of yeast into the Wherry kits to bring it up to the usual 11/12g of yeast required for a 40 pint kit.
Wonder if they've done this across the range? As small packets of yeast and resultant stuck brews were common across much of the Muntons range of kits (except Cwtch, which does come with 2 packets of yeast)

Re: Woodfordes Wherry Yeast
Are the 2 packets the same old yeast or a new strain ? I noticed yesterday in Wilko's Preston that Wherry was £17 !
Re: Woodfordes Wherry Yeast
The packets seem like "the same old yeast" but it's a good strain, never had a problem with it provided you use enough of it - 6g for 23L was insufficient.
