Azacca Pale Ale
Azacca Pale Ale
Never brewed with these hops before, but read that they are meant to be great in a single hopped beer. Apparently according to the malt miller; apricot, ripe mango, orchard fruit, orange, grapefruit, pine, and pineapple. I'm drooling like homer in a doughnut shop! Gonna get this on tomorrow.

Re: Azacca Pale Ale
Enjoy! I have single hopped with azacca, it’s really good. Resin and pineapple - i found it mellowed out after 2 weeks and let the fruit come through, its a bit of a blunt instrument!
Re: Azacca Pale Ale
Interested in how you get on with these hops also. I got some and was planning to use in a blend of other hops

Re: Azacca Pale Ale
Personlly I find Azacca is a bit one-dimensional on its own, but makes a good supporting hop mixed with something else.
Re: Azacca Pale Ale
2 of my favourite hops are Hull melon and Belma and so was planning to use this hop in a blend with them . I will await your opinion though on using it as a single addition.

Re: Azacca Pale Ale
How did it go. Would you say a single hop beer using this hop is worth it.

Re: Azacca Pale Ale
Have to say Azacca were a little disappointing. I used 100g in the last 5 minutes and the flavour/aroma is not as punchy as I imagined; a little fruity, some pineapple, but a lemon peel citrus flavour dominates. Not what I was expecting at all. They may do well as a supporting hop with something like mosaic or galaxy, but wouldn't recommend them for a single hop beer. Just not big enough to hold their own.

This beer from hope brewery was a competition winner from one of our local clubs. Upswing azacca and Eldorado dry hop. It's absolutely gorgeous

Maybe I got a bad batch! Could see how Eldorado dry hop would help though.
Just made a NEIPA with El Dorado, Citra and Mosaic with coastal haze yeast. It’s very pineappley. Will post the recipe when I get chance.

Re: Azacca Pale Ale
Ouch scathing comments. I’ve always been intrigued by this hop, having had a very good Azacca single hopped beer by Marble beers, Manchester who did a range of single hopped beers a few years back. It was maybe going towards 5% quite orangey in colour. Tasted great but perhaps there was a lot of dry hopping going on.
