Well, laptop packed up whilst on jollies so not been on for a week and missed all the fun and games!
I am a bit confused though when you say 'Work.............for a beer you like'. I have a beer a like - Roosters Baby Face Assassin (1 of a number I have to admit) which is something I wanted to try and match. Whether I have done so or not is open to question but knowing a little of the recipe gave me a starting point and something to work towards.
Surely, at the end of the day, every single brew you make is more of less an adapation of something that has gone before so aren't they all clones to some extent? Except of course those done by WalesAles who is, and hopefully will remain, a law entirely unto himself

Trying to clone Baby Faced Assassin which started off as a home brew recipe (what doesn't) by a couple of guys who ultimately ended up running the Roosters Brewery Co in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire - I've no idea how available their beers are but they're multi-award winners.
I'm not sure the latest version of my recipe will help given I scavange yeast as per IPA's method and use my own hops (of unknown AA%) for bittering, but here you go:
NOTE: having just finished this post thought I'd just clarify set the starter off on 29th March and bottled on 13th April - the info' below makes it look as though it took forever!!!
3 days prior - 1.2L starter (120g light spraymalt) with yeast from previous brew which was basically scavenged St Austell Proper Job with a touch of Safale S-05 at some point in the previous 6 brews.
Maris 4125g
Munich 250g
Wheat 150g
Sugar 410g
Mash (BIAB) 90 minutes at 67C - Pre-boil 1040
90 minute boil
85g First Gold (Prima Donna) at 90m
3g Irish Moss at 15m
Post boil 1053
No chill hence following day:
1 gallon of wort boiled for 10 minutes with 50g Citra T90 pellets
Cold crashed in sink withcold water plus £1 worth of bought ice - 20 minutes. Pitched at 18C.
Yeast sample taken (IPA method) 2 days later
7 days later gravity at 1006 - tfr to secondary with 75g Citra dry hop. Dropping to 2C. 1 day later gelatine added. 2 days later hops out and taking back to 18C
Bottled (37 x 500ml) with 60g brewers sugar.
NOTES
Slightly too bitter hence dropping the boil hops to 60g
Possibly over carbed if slightly warm so dropping to 50g (assuming 40 x 500ml bottles)
