Help With Inkbird ITC-308 Controller
Hi. I have a Help With Inkbird ITC-308 Controller which I'll be using for the first time this weekend. I plugged it into my boiler to test it, set the temperature to 55c and the differentials to +/- 0.3c, but it doesn't seem to turn off at the required temperature. I think it's probably something I'm doing or not doing, but the instructions don't seem to be that clear. Can anyone offer any advice?

Where have you put the temperature sensor on the Inkbird and where's the thermometer you're using to check the temperature?

I agree with Guy, placement of the sensor is a big issue, you will be surprised to find various temperature readings in different locations.
I have three of these Inkbirds, and find them excellent bits of kit, but I don’t use them above fermentation temperatures, ie for fermentation, chilling and conditioning.
With regards to the clarification of instructions, they are a little vague, but I can assure you that after a few setting operations you will be able to do it in your sleep!
Hope this helps:
Plug inkbird in.
Hold set button in for about 3-4 seconds to start setting.
Scroll up or down to achieve temp setting value.
Press set momentarily to move on to next setting.
Repeat above until you return to temperature setting value, then hold down set button for further 3-4 seconds.
Job done.

Thanks guys. The probe's fitting into a thermowell on one of these:

I'd assumed that setting the temperature would be all there was I needed to do. Even when I set an alarm, the temperature increases on the read out.

It should jut about handle a 2kW element. Worth checking you've been through the temperature setting process as described by Top Cat. The last step is important, or the Inkbird won't remember the temperature you've set.
Secondly--forgive me for asking--you have got the element plugged into the heater outlet and not the cooling outlet, haven't you!?

I'll double-check the settings this afternoon. Yes, Guy, definitely plugged int heating, not cooling.
