Taste it, sometimes the fermentation and CO2 gases can't smell almost vinegar like but the beer can be absloutely fine. But if it tastes like vinegar then unfortunately its stuffed.

Dont dump them yet Gorymorph as 2 of the last 4 beers I made had a vinegary smell and a sharp taste when kegging but when sampled 4 weeks later they tasted fine(one was a Docklands Porter and the other a Almondbury Old)and are all gone now.

i just "drained" the barrell of vinegar beer. Its been in the barrel for about 3 weeks, but when i tuned the tap on to empty it i only got a pint or so out before it stoped and i had to remove the cap to let the rest out. I was wondering if vineger beer second ferments in the barrel as much as good beer, or have i got a leaky barrel

I'm really glad I read this... just finished fermenting an Almondbury Old and it smells a lot like vinegar and I was mentally preparing to ditch it... might just wait and see how it turns out!
