A quick update on this:

It's bloody lovely.

I kegged it today and couldn't resist a sample. Now I'm 5 rather large samples further on and I'm amazed how good a beer this is. It's much, much better than many pints I've paid for, even though it's probably far too young.

I seriously doubt it will get to age gracefully, so I'll have to make it again. Good job 2 more cornies turned up on my doorstep this morning.

Anyway. Nice bite up front, good malty taste on the palette and a really nice refreshing lingering hop aftertaste.

Superb.

(Kicks the Wherry insta-kit that got me into brewing a few weeks ago into the long grass. Then shits on its head.)

I know exactly what you mean, I think I started about a week before you. I still did a 2nd wherry as a backup for the 1st AG though. Call me a paranoid munky.

Roll on AG #4 tomorrow (if the weather is ok)

Life is sweet. I'm on to sample number 6 now....

All I need to worry about is what to brew on Friday for the 4th corny.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Seriously though....AG brewing. Why the [censored] didn't I figure this out years ago? It's fun, easy and you get really good beer at the end of it.

Since doubling the slits in my H&G hop strainer and only using leaf hops I've not had any run-off issues.

(It's really helpful when someone makes a comment like this when you're having bother isn't it? ?)

However, if it did ever play up I'd be straight to Brupaks for one of theirs, it's not that much dosh.

I drilled a bunch of 3mm holes in mine - 1 between each of the slits. It seems to work like a champ now.

I had probs with my H&G stopper too, so I made one of aleman's hop-stoppers night before last. took about an hour. Cost about £10.

I'll let you know how I get on with it.

For some reason, I can't seem to get images working properly and showing up in my posts.....anyone know what i'm doing wrong. I click the "img" button to open an image tag, paste in the link, close the tag, but all I get is this (and no piccy)...:

You need to point at the .jpg rather than the page.

What's that look like then? Is there a particular post that describes it? Aleman seems to have some pretty neat ideas about brewing kit - I like the idea of the inline wort aerator he described as well.
