No need to now, the boiling process will have cleaned the coil up till its like a new coin so the cleaning is something that should be done the first time or if the coil is sitting for a long time. This is more for the guys who read this after and not yet immersed the coil in the 1st boil.Totem wrote:ooo bugger i didn't but it went thru a pre boil of water and then a boil in the wortill do that before using it again.
If it makes you feel better i can say that i cleaned my coil(strange choice of words) and afterwards i could not see the residue that had come off the coil in the solution. Its there, it gets stripped off but it ain't much!
Gravity was down to 1008 yesterday and today, so I transferred to a secondary as I need a bucket for my second brew tomorrow.
The trub seems to look different to the kits I’ve done before. I also noticed when I collect some wort in my trail jar from the boiler it became very turbid after a few minutes, was this the cold break forming once it had been cooled? If that’s the case I think I should wait a bit longer after it has cooled before collecting as there was an awful lot of it I’m my FV about 10 mins after I had run it off.
Anyway here is a picture, it also looks lumpy and not like the smooth slurry I’ve seen before:
