Ah yes, another tip comes to mind. I brew in the kitchen and an old towel or two on the floor is invaluable....

Ironically enough it's never happened to me, but then that's probably due to coming on here and seeing all the horror stories of people losing half their batch and scalding their feet. Makes me check twice I can tell you!

If I got round to writing a recipe as a checklist it would include things like:

12. Make sure receiving vessel tap is closed.

13. Start running-off.
