Beersmith is good. The Android version is quite slow apparently as it is basically the iphone version converted so not a true android program. You can use Brewaide on an Android phone which loads xml files through Dropbox but it doesn't seem to work on the latest Android software

I haven't really found any problems with it being slow personally while running it on my tablet.

Beersmith 100%. You can't rely on the water profiles but everything else is pretty bang on

I tried brewmate, and once all deadspace etc is inputted it does the rest for you. It is also free. Would be nice if it did batch sparging as well but no bigger.

Beer engine is pretty good as far as uncomplicated programmes go. No iOS or android integration but that's cool coz sticky wort coated print outs are a lot cheaper to replace than iPhones or S4s.

I use BeerSmith.

For me it is the best one out there, I love that I can keep up to date on my inventory and make beers from what I got on hand.

I have Beersmith and Beeralchemy for my Macbook. I like BA but I cannot work out if there is an automatic way of altering recipes based on efficiency which BS does really well.

Best for me is an Excel spreadsheet with user defined functions and formulas based on Beerengine. I found Beersmith etc had too much clutter and functionality I do not need.

What my spreadsheet does is: I enter OG I want and percentages of various malts I want and from those I get various amounts to use and colour. Then I choose the hops, how much and schedule and from these I get IBUs.

Not much else needed I think.

I found brewmate much better as a "out of the box" solution, took next to no set up and was reasonably accurate. Beersmith on the other hand I hated when I first got it, too much going on and too much to input/change. Having now got used to beersmith and got it set up reasonably well for my kit I'd say it is definitely the better piece of kit.

Quick one though, does anyone elses shopping list on beersmith not really work? Mine only seems to add one recipe at a time, and if I try to print it only wants to print info abotu 1 ingredient not the list. Apart from that, no real gripes.

Personally I have always found the Hopville/ Brewtoad software very user friendly

I've just started using Beersmith 2 on iPad and it is very good. I prefer it over the 'full' version in fact.
It is a bargain at £5.49 currently.
