I think it's fair to say the grain bill is a little large i collected 30 something L of wort and i stopped at about 1010 cause the swimbo wanted her pots for cooking

Looks like you'll be doing a bit of bottling on this batch then

, stopping at 1010 should improve the beer as well.
Now tell SWMBO to get the dinner on the table pronto

Well i forgot the 30 min hops so just as well i have all that extra wort cause the boil will be 15 mins longer, also i added a whirfloc at what i thought was 15 mins so i'll be adding another at the next 15, result could be interesting

Hope all went well - I still have a few bottles of my Orfy's hobgoblin - it is a nice brew. I think I would up the crystal a touch and have a little less chocolate just due to personal preference. It was my first experience with styrians and I am hooked!

all went well except for the one hiccup with the 30 min hops, also i dry hopped 15 grm of each hop to the fermenter, now it's my favourite part of brewing a bubbling airlock

Just kegged this and also filled 7 65cl bottles, hats off to Orfy i have never tasted anything as drinkable from the fermenter and it already resembles Hobgoblin. I have to admit i'm really excited about how this will taste in two weeks or maybe a bit sooner

Nice one AT, you need to get yourself in a bottle of hobgoblin for the blind taste testing

A guy i'm working with is going to England next week and every time he goes he brings me back a few bottles

I have half the company mad for Hobgoblin now, it was funny at the start but now when he goes everybody is looking for bottles which needless to say leaves me a few short

still it's great to get them

Flipping heck i didn't realise you wouldn't be able to get it down there, if i fancy a few i just pick them up when im doing the shopping with SWMBO in tescos.
I feel really envious of the guys on here who live across the water who can actually drink drink these beers as real ales the way they are supposed to be enjoyed.

Only ale i can get in this town is Chimay, Fullers, Duvel which i hate and one or 2 others i can't even care to remember. When i was up your part of the country i looked for Hobgoblin in Asda, where i bought it in England but it wasn't there

sorry to hear that your search was fruitless, both sainsburys and tescos stock it up here as well as quite a few of the other wychwood brews.
Strange when i think of it there is only one offy in belfast that i know that has a better range of beers than the supermarkets

Hey AT, It's not going to be as cheap as a supermarket but at £2.50 a pint it's the same as most pubs....well in Manchester anyway
http://www.secureonlineshopping.biz/wyc ... number=125
£29.99 for 12 bottles
I'm sure if you rang them direct they would supply 12 x Hobgoblin
Even better expand production and sell/give to your friends
