Why not bulldog clips but saying that copper kettle used something similar and kept it as a spoon holder

I've been using the same bit of net curtain for over 30 brews now, it is still going strong. I line an old cool box with it and hold it in place with an old bungee (30yrs+). mash in and then put the lid on and throw a couple of old fleece jackets on top. I don't usually lose more than 1C over a 90 minute mash. I always pre-heat the coolbox with a kettle of boiling water just as if it where a tea pot,this helps keep the heat in.
Net curtain came from Boyes.
