Strange that they differ so much, I will admit Morrisions has a better selection.

The asda brand porter you mentioned in the previous post is very good, its really difficult to get the darker beers like that in the supermarkets

I don't know if this is the same at other asda stores but at my local one they have a small section of about 6 shelves dedicated to local produce, 2 of these are full of local beers.

They are a bit pricier than the others they stock at around £2.20 a bottle but you can find some really interesting local ales.

Yes, our asda has those local beers but I have never tried any of them.

After talking about sampling different beers I decided to go down to morrisons and try a few I hadn't tried before. I had a Marston's Empire IPA which was great, better than a recent green king I had, It had a very nice floral aroma and a nice clean bitter and citrus taste. I had a Chimay Red which had a very nice aroma of yeast and apricots but wasn't as nice to drink, it was far too fizzy and had very little flavour though it might just be my preference for a full flavoured beer. I also had a Roaring Meg which was rather ordinary.

After having the Marston's Empire though I am now interested in brewing an IPA in the near future

MM - If you're an IPA fan see if you can get a pint of Deuchars IPA on tap somewhere. Its the total business.
