check out Jabba's "brewery programming" thread, at least 3 complete versions of a brewcontroller including matho's build based on arduino h/w.

Thanks again. I'm red faced now, having fallen into the classic forum fault of not spending time looking before asking. Sorry everyone - I got a bit excited last night and posted my question before spending more time researching. I will now research better.

No problem, what so ever, but please post your build if you go ahead. Onwards and upwards.....

I promise I will. I've just downloaded the zip file from one of Matho's posts. It seems very comprehensive and, so far, within my capabilities...... I hope that isn't setting myself up for a fall. And yes, I should be doing some work but I seem to have got addicted, once more to brewing kit.

Barneey, I think I read in one of your earlier posts that you might have some pcbs from Matho in your bag of bits? Is this still the case, or do you know if anyone in The UK had any of the double sided pcbs for the Brauduino made?

So, any electronics help would be gratefully received

is about all im saying at the moment, apart from the grey thing bottom left going to pins 9 and 10 of the ardunio is a rotary encoder, and has the momentry switch(thing going to pin 11) built in,and the black 3 legged thing going to pin 8 is a DS18B20 dallas 1 wire tempreture sensor

All I'll say is that the plot seems to be thickening!
I'd never heard of Arduino this time yesterday but I seem to have spent a very large proportion of today reading up on them. Thank you for the clear picture, Themadhippy.

When I sold my BreadMaker on I gave a PCB away with it.
I still have one left but am keeping it just in case I build a BIG pot.
BTW (Thanks to Alexe for the link) you can buy BM bits......

Interesting; if I understand it correctly, the link you posted leads to a Swiss site where you can buy the 'original' BM controller for about £250? That would save a lot of mucking around on electronics wouldn't it? Mind you, it would trash my Arduino learning curve before it really started. Mind you, I'd still have fun with the physical build.

Question of funds....
A Matho build approx. 1 or 2 years ago would cost circ. £100.00 for the electronic bits.

Yes, always the funds problem. Mind you, the time/funds relationship needs to be factored in too. Mind you, I do like the idea of the Matho build. I'm sure I read that there'd been some pcbs made in America and Brazil so I'll try and track them down. Maybe there are some in Oz, I don't know how many Matho had made. I think I saw a pdf with the layout for each side of the pcb too, it's years since I etched my own pcb, but I suppose you're never too old for a bit of etching are you?

Thing is with the other builds they might give yo more flexibility, IF it were needed?
Aamcle is also very close to building a Toaster

from scratch , toaster being the next generation build.

I've been in contact with a chap called Lael on Aussie Homebrew. He has kits available for the Arduino based Matho controller. I'm going to get one, I reckon. I just thought I'd let other people know. This is what Lael replied to me:
I do still have them! Where are you located? I've also sourced the buttons and connectors needed for the control box, which should make it easier to get the build done.
Total cost for the shield kit, arduino and the controller parts is 105aud. Depending on where you are it may be best to get multiple kits. It is usually the case that once someone has one, their brewing friends want one too... And postage from Aus is unfortunately normally around 30aud.

@zebra - i have just (as in 2 days ago) just finished building one - building the pcb is an ok job if your handy with a soldering iron, the build itself is a lot easier if you have a dremel on hand.

Ha! I've just sent Lael a PM too! I'm going to order a kit and will just take the hit on the postage as I don't know anyone round here (Southampton) who also wants one. Would be great if you got one too then we can compare build notes!
After several iterations and false starts I've decided to use a 38.5 litre thermo pot to make a single vessel BM clone using a bendable element (something like this
http://www.expresscateringspares.co.uk/ ... 94-1-0.htm) and a 12v solar project pump. How about you?
