Yup.

To further complicate matters, don't plug two elements into one double socket, they aren't rated for two 13A loads. You should use separate sockets.

a knock on the door announced the arrival of the elements from BES, fantastic service, arrived in under 48 hours from placing the order. I am a little concerned with them as the finish on the elements is not what i was expecting, and certainly not the same as in Garth's photo posted jul 09 in this thread. Are these ok to use or has BES changed the specs? trying to keep in mind that these are tank heaters, i'm a little disappointed in the finish - Garths look far sexier - there is also a little surface rust, no doubt resulting from the soldering.

what d'ya think?

hmm, I see what you mean, they don't look like mine at all.

Mine have black wiring shrouds, and all three prongs are stainless, and I might be mistaken here but there dosen't seem to be a screw thread?

what did you order? can you remember the part no?

I think they've made a mistake there FM, I think you should maybe contact them in the new year and tell then that this is not what you ordered.

In that picture, have you already got the brass rings screwed onto the body on the element?

just checked my old BES orders and the stainless 11" ones were 16656, they have obviously changed all their numbers, but I still think they have sent you two 19751 instead of two 19758

Yes Garth, the brass rings are fitted to the units. looking at the boxes they came in, both quote 19758 on the label. you thinking they may have been packed wrong? i'm wondering what BES sent sib67?

They look like nickel-alloy (incoloy/superloy) ones for aggressive water, I think they have sent you the correct ones as BES don't specify what the sheath material is.

sib67 might have received titanium sheathed, which is also supplied for aggressive water conditions, and are a nice shiny silver.

The first 2 I got from here http://www.oilybits.com/immersion-heate ... d_454.html

as I hadn't seen that BES sold them.

I later paid about £8 - 9 each for another two from BES, at the time they were cheaper than the copper jobs.

Would two immersion elements be ok to use in a plastic 60ltr bin such as those supplied by Hop and grape or would I have to go with stainless steel?

My HLT is made from one of those 60L bins with an 11" immersion element fitted, don't see why having two would be a problem, the bins are very sturdy.

Looks like BES have either changed suppliers for these, or changed to a slightly different part number.
