Seems very logical - was thining of the ones in that style last time / at IPA comp etc. and also how to figure out attractor/divider question... though that might be a chicken/egg question (e.g. are people more likely to enter a cascadian if it's going to be compared to others than if it's in the "other" category). Cascadian seems to be the one with the off-the-shelf style guide and logical category (10.D) for collapsing.alikocho wrote:Black IPA will go into 23, unless there are a significant number of entries, in which case I *may* create a sub-style. ...
I'm not going to keep adding categories, though (it gets impractical, divisive, expensive, etc), and bear in mind that even a custom category could still be collapsed to be judged alongside something else.
So - if cascadian doesn't get its own category do you need to enter a set of style guides to be judged against if you are legitimately going into 23, e.g. like those linked to above?alikocho wrote:And given that I'm going to be super-hot on people dumping beers into specialty that should be elsewhere, speciality should be a fair (if challenging) category to enter.
