Thought about brewing a mild and came up with a slightly different recipe to normal. Like to know whether you think it would work!
Pale Malt 75%
Crystal Malt 15%
Roast Barley 5%
Choc Malt 3%
Torrified Wheat 2%
Black Treacle 1oz
Fuggles 2oz + 1/2 oz last 15mins

Looks interesting, i have a mild with 12% crystal malt malt and when i do this again i might drop this back to 10%, although i am using WLP002.
if you want to keep the 15% crystal malt, i would replace some of the malt with sugar so it dose not end up to sweet

Thanks for your reply. What do you think about reducing the crystal to 10% and adding 5% flaked barley?

That issue talks about "A New "Wheeler". Didn't know things were that bad.

Just printed off the article on milds as you suggested - brilliant! - although I have not studied it in detail yet.
Many thanks for your help, I will certainly have a go based on the information supplied.

CAMRA is now keen to republish Graham’s work,
beginning with the recipe book Brew your own British
real ale at home. With that out of the way, the main
book would be republished. Graham would appreciate
some input from members.
So the new Wheeler is the old Wheeler updated correct?
Glad to hear CAMRA is keen on the books again!

Oh! it's the books. I thought for a moment that it was me that the CBA wanted a "new" one of. One of me is enough for anybody. I never saw that announcement in the CBA newsletter thingy.
Yes, the books will be updated (if not by me, by somebody else). It would be reckless to move too far away from a moderately successful formula.
