Innis & Gunn recipe

Hi Guys

I am seeking an Innis & Gunn recipe. Have had a good search on here, and googled a fair bit, no luck - anyone got anything up their sleeve on this one?

Dissolve a ton of butterscotch and toffee in water. From my recent tastings of it that would seem to do it. I poured the last one I had down the sink. I can only recall three beers in the last year I've done that too.

1) Innis and Gunn.
2) Kindl Berliner Weiss.
3) Some Fox Brewery bottled beer that was simply awful.

It's the raspy tannic astringent dryness that I find really horrible about this beer. It puts me off trying anything else that has been oak aged. Makes me think i've had a bad bottle of it because it gets rave reviews.

No idea about a clone - i'll keep my eyes open and post back if I find anything.

I find oak pleasant in white wines and whisky, maybe even cider if I bothered to notice... and I've supped at Sam Smith's pubs which use oak barrels (apparently) That's it. That's what I'm supping tomorrow. Expect the full ano report in 24 hours.

Sorry - this is something of a thread hijack for which I apologise. The thread is not to debate the merits (or otherwise) of the beer merely to ascertain whether a clone recipe exists.

"I'm not sure but will have a look" is perhaps all that was needed then. Hmm.

Thanks (?) guys - Steve I can almost imagine that a little Eau de vie in some dissolved toffee & caramel (with a bit of soda stream magic) might get half way there - but I'd prefer to ferment it!

Yeah, its sweet, but I rather like a bottle or two (this is definately not a session ale either in ABV or "quaffabillity")

My *esco home delivery tried to substitute 2 of these for Shep & Neame Whitstable Ale.
Wasn't going to take the chance and sent 'em back.
Glad i did now.

I quite like innis and gunn but then again i love that toffee taste in my beer.

If i was having a bash at it i'd go with something like the below (off the top of my head).

MO 5Kg
Crystal 120 EBC 0.4 Kg
Golden syrup 0.4 Kg
Biscuit malt 0.1 Kg (optional would use it if i had it, if not up the crystal to half a kilo).
mash at about 66 C.

Reduce a few litres of the first sparge down to a few 100 mls to caramelise it.

Goldings about 20 IBUs at 90 mins
10g of goldings at 20 min.

Ferment with fullers yeast WL002

Chuck in a small amount (better to little than too much, you can always add more) of oak chips previously soaked in a mixture of whiskey and sherry for a few days.

Completely off the top of my head so i have no idea if it would be even close but im sure it would be fun making it :D

Firstly thank goodness I am not alone!

That sounds great - I had already planned the whiskey soaked oak chips, but that was about it! Many thanks....
