youngs brew kit 40 pts beer bitter

ive just done a youngs brew in a pressue barrel its been 3 weeks now so ive decided to break into it had a nice taste with a good head then it went flat about a 1/4 way down the barrel so the nxt day bought some co2 gas a give a squirt hey presto the head back on but beer seems flat no bubbles is that normal for beer as im normaly a lager drinker

Ale should be less fizzy than lager but it isn't inherently so, just the way you condition and store it makes the difference. Is it very flat or just a little flat compared to lager, are you getting any bubbles? You may just need more co2 in the keg and it will force carbonate.
