Hi
I have an unopened 5kg bag of crushed lager malt. But it's a year out of date according to the label.
Should I give in to its tempting charms and make a brew, or am I wasting my time and heading for disaster?
Anyone had experience of out of date ingredients?
Thanks!
Out of date, out of time?

Could I suggest that you simply chew a few grains . . . if you get that 'stale muesli' taste then its best not to use it . . . otherwise go ahead . . . I've brewed with malts that are 12-18 months old and the beer has been fine, but I do store them in the dry with a Jumbo sachet of Silica Gel in the container to keep moisture out.
