Just had a sneaky taste of my Fixby Gold which has been conditioning for one week (yes one week!).
It tastes so nice I could start drinking it now, but really want to leave it a bit longer as I have a barrel of IPA to get through.
It has a nice vanilla like taste, very smooth and a great golden colour.
Can this get any better? Quite clear already.
I cant get over the quality of this beer and I brewed it! Wonder what the three bottles I have will be like in a few months.
Any one else like this one?
WOW! Fixby Gold tastes amazing
Re: WOW! Fixby Gold tastes amazing
Mine has been bottled for over 3 weeks now and I'm having trouble keeping my hands off it! I can honestly say this has been the best kit I have ever made. I knocked it up as per Daab's instructions for Brewpaks kits, and I even used the yeast supplied.ChrisG wrote:Just had a sneaky taste of my Fixby Gold which has been conditioning for one week (yes one week!).

If you can Chris, leave it another few weeks, it will improve even more

Sure, It's on Daab's own site -Totem wrote:Couldn't point me to that post? Most probably, but in my experience a short boil does tend to produce a better beer. Daab's instructions only call for a 10 minute boil. As I understand it this is more of an insurance policy against any possible nasties in the wort. You wouldn't want any more of a boil than this because the extract is hopped, too much boiling would drive off any hop aroma.Totem wrote:Cheers, why do you need to boil the extract, isnt it safe to use out of the tin?
Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me would like to clarify this
