Tom Caxton Mild, with extra.....

Post by silkyuk9 » Sat Jun 14, 2008 3:32 pm

Ive just opened my barrel of 40 pints of Mild. When i made this i bought 1/2lb of licorice (hard jellies) from the sweetshop and boiled them down to a liquid. i added this in the fermentation period.

The taste is really nice, the Mild in not as dark as stout but its really nice to drink

im glad with this batch, im trying to experiment with different flavours now.

im ready to make a batch of lager, and im thinking of adding about 6 cut up limes in the fermentation process. do you think it will be ok, and not effect the fermentation. hopefully i will get 40 pints of lager with a hint of lime.

It'll certainly be interesting. Not sure how the acid content of lime will affect the brew, I think you'd need a more qualified opinion than mine but keep us posted. It's what it's all about. Nothing ventured....

Maybe worth squeezing in some fresh lime juice after fermentation is complete before you bottle/keg it. Should help to get the right amount in anyway if you could sample it, but if it's in from the beginning theres no taking it out lol

Im not sure which would be the best way? sounds like an interesting experiment though :)
