Beer machines
No offence intended to the TC crew around here but if your after making something with a little taste and a lot of alcohol with little effort, you could do worse than grab a load of 100% apple/mixed fruit juice, throw that in an FV, add yeast and wait 10 days, bottle/keg wait another couple of weeks and drink.

Given that those things cost about 100 pounds and offer at best mid range kit performance you'd really be much better off with a Hop & Grape starter kit (other kits are available). Trust me, the beer you make will be much better and the wealth of knowledge available here is also far superior to any instruction leaflet you'll get with the beer machine.
If you really want cheap and cheerful, check out 'other recipes' for turbo cider.

good call steve, i've recently done a batch of TC with nothing other than tescos value pure apple juice, a pinch of yeast nutrient and youngs cider yeast.stevezx7r wrote:No offence intended to the TC crew around here but if your after making something with a little taste and a lot of alcohol with little effort, you could do worse than grab a load of 100% apple/mixed fruit juice, throw that in an FV, add yeast and wait 10 days, bottle/keg wait another couple of weeks and drink.
This is the best so far, it is dry but not overly so and still has a taste of apples which i put down to the cider yeast (still very cheap since its dry yeast). It also doesn't have any of the twang that was present in the prevous batches. Im putting this twangless batch down to the use of a proper cider yeast, the small amount of yeast nutrient and the absence of more sugar (i mean why add sugar its already strong using just apple juice).
SWMBO who is my most hard to please customer has give it the thumbs up so i'll probably make another 10 Ls for the summer.

Re: Beer machines
If you are using them as suggested in the instructions with the 'Beer Machine' Kits then you are likely to be disappointed. If on the other hand you make a Brupaks beers of the world kit and use the 'Beer Machine' for dispensing then you might be more impressed.cosyslipper wrote:As anyone tryed the beer machine .And if so are they any good
You could also make 2 gallon batches of extract/all grain beer and dispense from it.
