Hi,
Just got all my kit and started off with the lager kit that came with my starter pack a Youngs larger i believe. Sterilised everything and put the kit into my fermenter and added a Muntons beer kit enhancer instead of the sugar. Followed the instructions on the beer kit which said not to seal the lid of the fermenter tight, but not getting any bubbles in the air lock, checked the brew and it had a head for a while which has now gone after about a day or so and no bubbles in the fermenter at all, just wanted to check that this seems normal or has it gone a bit wrong.
Thanks in advance.
Paul
Brewing my first larger kit just need a bit of advice
If from what your saying, You have an airlock you can ensure that the lid of your fermenter is sealed tight, The reason some kits say dont seal tight is that alot of people dont have airlocks to let the gas out of the fermenter so have to leave a little gap to let the Co2 out.
If you seal it you will get bubbles :0

you won't get any bubbles in the airlok unless the fermenter is sealed tight, my buckets have to have the lids fermly snapped down before I get any co2 from the airlock.
If it had a head, yeast is doing it's thing. you could relax and wait then bottle/barrel or if the nerves are getting the better of you take hydrometer readings, I call it quality control as you have to sample the beer at the same time
