19 liter batch-Beersmith instructions
3180g 2 row UK pale
330g flaked maize
200g golden naked oats
190g crystal 60
160g white wheat malt
150g biscuit malt
1oz challenger (7.5%) 60 mins
1 whirlfloc tablet 15 mins
.5oz EKG (4.5%) 10 mins
S-04 yeast
60 min mash at 154F
Batch sparge
had my first stuck sparge, manage to blow up tube and clear
Batch 1-1.5L at 168F
Batch 2-8.3L at 168F
Batch 3-8.3L at 168F
Batch 4-continued until boiling pot was full
Took a measurement and was suprised to see 1.056(126F) this worked out to be 1.068, how can this be?
according to beersmith I should be at 1.040
I continued with the boil (I need a bigger pot)
Ended up with 17 liters at 1.052, beersmith does suggest to add water to bring upto 19 liters, if I was to do this would I of hit my target SG 1.047,
end product has a lot of floating clouds in it, that are slowly dropping to the bottom of the test jar, it is beginning to clear up nicely
all in all a pretty good day
I have to get a camera.
Cheers
Paul
