hi all,
looking for kit suggestion for a sweeter type of ale. have done several bitters.. coopers, coopers ipa, wherry.. all very nice but all with quite a bitter kick. now looking for a one can kit that is slightly sweeter. have tried the coopers dark which was lovely and also done a couple of milds which are all quite dark. looking for a copper coloured sweeter ale. all suggestions gratefully noted.

Have you considered any of the Brewferm kits. Gold is quite sweet, though maybe not amber enough for you. They do an ambrionix which is I think

Have a look at their range Here or there are alot of threads here at Jim's about them - Brewferm chatter

cheers.
by coincidence have the brewferm ambiorix conditioning in bottles as we speak. needs at least 6 weeks apparently so another 5 1/2 to go.

If I want to take the edge off a kit that I expect to be on the bitter side I add some crystal malt. Most brew shops will sell a 500 gram pack of Crushed Crystal Malt for around £1.50. For a 40 pint kit steep about 150 grams for 20 minutes or so in a saucepan of hot but not boiling water and add it to the wort with the other fermentables before you aerate and pitch your yeast.
