Hi All,
Does anyone know what quantities of priming sugars commercial breweries use in there Firkins for conditioning? I’ll be filling one up for use with a hand pump so suspect that the quantities of sugar will be a lot less than normal.
Does this sound about right for 1.5 Volumes of CO2
Green beer ready for barrelling fermented at 20C so about 0.88 Vol residual CO2
1.5 – 0.88 = 0.62 Vol CO2
0.62 x 4 = 2.48g/l of sugar
2.48 x 41 = 101.68g total for 9 gallon
Cheers
Barry

Re: Priming a Firkin
I use 50g for a pin so your figure of 101.68g for a firkin would seem about right.
