Two brews for one price!

I thought it was time for 'KNUCK FOWS version 2', so when shopping I found the following in the local freezer shop -

500g bag of frozen strawberries
500g bag of frozen blackberries
250g bag of frozen raspberries

All for the princely sum of 87 pence, yes 87 pence! They were all reduced to 29 pence a bag to clear them out of the freezer. Anyway, getting home, I defrosted them, mashed them up and added 8 litres of boiling water on the top to extract the goodness from them.

I took 5 litres and added sugar and a generic wine yeast to make something for the little woman. The other 3 litres were added to 2 litres of 'Berry Burst' made from concentrate drink (which included straw, black and raspberry - cost £1.38), 0.5 kg of sugar, a dash of honey and a once used champagne yeast.

Both are doing nicely in the cupboard, obliviously the wine will take longer but I'm thinking that version 2 may just make an appearance on Xmas day - I'll give it to the mother in law and laugh when she thinks its Vimto!

SCC, you're probably only a kick on the pants from me, where did you score this bounty and is there any left?

Ritchie

The freezer shop was Herons in Hebburn Newtown Shopping Centre. Went there today and the bags of berries have gone, only to be replaced with frozen rhubarb! Mmmmmmmmmmmm, time to check the internet for something rhubarby and very different!

Cheers
