Cornie keg crash course

Hello chaps,

I'm beginning to become a shiny-gear whore and taking the plunge into cornies (I can get at least 2 in a small fridge against one barrel). As I haven't clue about them, please enlighten me.

I understand the principle but not the hardware side. I see both inlet and outlet as ball-bearing type posts, are these disconnects or are the John Guest fittings the disconnects?

As a newbie, I'll probably start with just the one keg so what will I need?

Also, it it better to have a one with a plastic or metal lid?

There are different types of cornies, requiring a different set of disconnects

If you order your cornies off Norm from on ebay then you get the disconnects and the JG Speed fit fitting with the cornie, so you dont need to worry about it.

I'd say just order them from Norm, as Talisman said, you get the disconnects with them so nothing to worry about.

Also, when using a cornie is the beer drinkable sooner?
