This is the price at Wilko's it always has been, always is, and always will be, world without end.

Seriously, last year Wilko's beer kits & enhancer went up in price. The cheap kits went up most (enhancer £3.29 - £4.99, geordie £4.99 to £7.99), Coopers went up a quid and wherry stayed the same. Weird.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

Obviously Wilkos have done a bulk buying deal with Youngs homebrew on the Wherry kit hence the £14.99 price, less VAT adjustment, which has been the same ever since they started stocking it many years ago.

It's a shame that they don't try to stock the other type of Woodforde's kits. :(

Coopers Aussie Lager £10, BKE £5 total £15 = 38p a pint bargain. What could you get in a supermarket for that price?

I think the extra £2 (for 40ish pints of your favourite tipple) is worth it for the personal service and expertise that your LHBS can offer. I am pretty sure that Wilkos don't have a Home Brew expert in every store.

Dave.

On the other hand it's good they don't, leaves some of the market for the HB shops and without hb shops your choice of kits and availability of other stuff would almost certainly diminish.

Unless it was a super special offer, I wouldn't pour anything down my throat that costs that little in a supermarket.

My local Wilko's stocks the Wherry, the Great Eastern and I believe the Admiral's and the Nog, as well as Coopers Lager and Bitter, Edme and Youngs kits, good job really as my nearest HBS is a bus journey then a tram journey, and it seems to close stupidly early on Saturday and isn't open at all on a Sunday.

If that's the case then I shall approach my local Wilko's to see if they can order in for me a Great Eastern and Admiral's Reserve kit.

 I wasn't being serious, but only just... dented tins and bottles that have had allsorts spilt on them from somewhere or something  are always in the bargain buckets, never more than 50p.

we'll have eaten worse things in our lifetimes than they could ever put in a cheap lager, I still like a cheap sausage from the barby :=P !!

What I do to save a bit is buy 1 kg dme £6.50 and 1 kg brewing sugar £1.50[i believe you can get it for £1 kg at certain places]Then I spit them 50/50 and that works out £4.oo per kilo .So thats a pound better than bke. :D
