Cloudy and Warm

Post by THE TACKER » Sun Jun 28, 2009 12:22 pm

Well got my second brew on Woodfordes Wherry seems a bit slower ferment than the last brew which was my Coopers Old ale.
That's been in the PB for a couple of weeks now but still cloudy, doesn't taste too bad, so I take it it will keep improving the longer I leave it ? [-o<
Another question:- Due to the unusually warm weather I am finding it difficult to lower the beer to a more palatable temp, I've asked the nearest and dearest to give up the fridge to no avail :( , and there's no old ones going cheap. Any one any Ideas?

Wherry needs at least 6 weeks to clear and condition in my opinion.

As for keeping your keg cool you could invest in a 2.4 x 1.2 metre sheet of Celotex or Kingspan rigid foil-backed insulation 50 mm thick which you can get for between £20-23 from a builder's merchants and make an enclosure using gaffer tape. You also need to find the coolest place in your house which is usually on the ground floor and north facing so you won't get any direct sun-light.

My problem too - weather went very hot the day after I started
my Wherry fermenting, 4 days ago.

It's in the bath with a wet towel over it, managing to keep it
to about 22 C during the day, and doing nicely.

Apparently we are in for a right heat wave this week...
