I've noticed a big improvement in kit lagers since fermenting at lower temperatures and using s23 yeast but I am interested in what you say Chris about filtering: somehow the twang is still discernable with kit lager and I'd be keen to try filtering to see if it improves the beer. What kind of equipment would be needed? Incidentally, a few of my lager-swilling mates have been v impressed with the Great Eastern - last time I made it I used s23 and fermented it at 12-15c and it turned out a treat, really hoppy and crisp
