Hello.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of chlorine and flouride from Liquor, I get a brew now and again that smells and tastes of TCP and chuck it. I have been advised to use camden tablets to get rid of the flouride and chlorine before brewing. I always run the tap before filling my fermenter and leave for 36 to 48 hours before brewing My current brewing is a Geordie kit + 2 medium spraymalt+ 1lb demerera sugar + golding hops boiled for 15 mins in a saucepan and added to the kit . Beer great but 1 in 20 brews TCP PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN

CAMDEN TABLETS
Re: CAMDEN TABLETS
For me, one tablet treats 40+ liters. Just scrape off what I need into the water. Supposedly it allows the chlorine and chloramines to be boiled off. I have also started running the water through a shower head filter. But prior to the filter I had no off flavors, only got them when I forgot the tablets.

Re: CAMDEN TABLETS
Thanks lads.
I liked the alkilinity test video. I live in Coventry and have Severn trent supply my house I have e-mailed them for a alkilinity reading but no chance I have explaained what I want. I have received a water report total hardness loads of information but not alkilinity. I have had sucess with CRS I estimated I would use 200ml just in desperation to try and rid the water of carbonates because of the harsh hop flavours I have endured for years. The outcome was very good but in the next brew after the CRS treatment I made up a water treatment of 2 parts gypsum 1 part maldon salt and 1 part epsom salts and added 2tsps to the liqour with great results . This was my first letter to the forum I only joined today many thanks. P. S. Has anyone got the total alkilinity for styvechale coventry I know the ph is 7-6 by the way where can I get the alkilinity testing kit on the video James

"by the way where can I get the alkilinity testing kit"
These kits are generally used in the marine fishkeeping field, if you seek out a decent MARINE centre, you'll find them there, most normal half decent fish centres can order them in, generally the company salifert is very well known in the field, and give very good results IF used correctly.
If there isnt a decent marine shop near you, theres plenty on the net, i'd poke a guess at search for "salifert test kits". (unsure of correct spelling, thinks thats it)
Just make sure you can test freshwater with it, as in tap only, and not made up marine saltwater, im pretty sure its for tap, but if ordering this type of test kit but by another manufacturer deffinitely make sure.
Cheers, lee

Re: CAMDEN TABLETS
You could always buy a few gallons on mineral water its not that expensive in bulk
Re: CAMDEN TABLETS
I like to get my entire brew water ready the night before I start brewing e.g.: all 50L go in to two fermentation bins with the lids on in the shed, now can I add the campden tablet and the CRS that is needed to each 25L of water the night before?
Thanks
